Dr. Betts grew up enjoying the sandy, salty beaches of Manatee (Florida) so how fun that she and her husband Roger end up enjoying the sandy, salt-free beaches of Manistee! After a decade of caring for humans as a paramedic in Florida something was missing. Dr Betts decided treating more than one species was more her style. Dr Betts graduated from the University of Florida in 2000. She then completed a competitive medical/surgical internship at the prestigious Friendship Hospital for Animals then remained there as a clinician.
Home was calling for Roger, who is from Michigan, so they traded the big city of DC for the more peaceful pace of life of Michigan. They began running Parkdale Veterinary Wellness Center in 2008. Dr Betts has continued to focus on the areas of veterinary medicine she's passionate about including preventive care, zoonosis (diseases animals can transmit to people), therapeutic laser, and dentistry.
